Reine is ambitious and cunning and she only has one goal in life, to be queen. Honestly, she doesn’t care which country she’s queen of, just so long as she is on the throne. Still, she is a person underneath all the court etiquette and she considers her most glaring flaw to be that she is fiercely loyal to those she deems worthy of her trust, which makes betrayal the one thing that she considers to be unforgivable.

A version of chess found in Lairea that is typically played with four players, each representing one of the four Lairean countries, however it can be played with three or two. Play requires alliances to win, however strategy within alliances can not be spoken of at the table. Each player starts with 25 pieces; 8 Serfs (pawns), 2 Rocs (1,3 pattern), 2 Chevaliers (knights), 2 Ouroborous (moves in a pseudo-circular shape, stopping if there is a piece of an opposing color in its path), 1 King, 1 Queen, 1 Chancellor (can move like a Bishop or a Knight), 2 Priests (bishops), 2 Towers (rooks), and 4 fairy pieces of the players choosing. Fairy pieces include Fae (can move like a queen and a knight), Shifters (can move 2x in any direction), Dragons (moves like a knight, captures like a pawn), Advisors (relay piece, moves in tandem with King), Merfolk (2,2 pattern but can only move if capturing) and Wolves (moves like knight, but if there is a piece of the opposing color in its path, it takes it and stops its movement) among others.
